Who we are. Keyanok is an independent information and guidance service for United Kingdom mobile customers. We are not a mobile network. We have no affiliation with, endorsement from, appointment by or connection to Three, EE, O2, Vodafone, Sky Mobile, Tesco Mobile or any other provider, and no commercial arrangement with any of them. We do not sell, supply, arrange or broker SIM cards, contracts, handsets or services of any kind, and we take no commission. Everything on this site is general information; a provider’s own current terms always take precedence.

What it means for you

Vodafone has run its own national infrastructure for as long as there has been a UK mobile market. Since June 2025 it has formed half of VodafoneThree, the largest operator in the country by customers.

The point that matters most for anyone comparing networks: this is a separate mast estate. A coverage result you obtained on Three, O2 or EE tells you nothing about it. Run the checkers again.

Two budget brands rent this signal — VOXI, run by Vodafone itself, and Lebara, built around international calling.

Watch thisAs on the merger partner, callers demanding an urgent plan “migration” are running a scam. No such process exists on either brand.

Being merged with Three’s
Practical effect
Postcode results move more than usual
Recheck
Once a year
Cheapest way to test
A month on VOXI or Lebara

What it means for you

A broad national footprint with serious money now going into consolidation. Because two estates are being combined, an address that failed a year ago may pass now — and occasionally the reverse.

That makes an annual re-check worth more on this network than on any other, and it makes a one-month test through VOXI or Lebara the sensible way in.

What you can buy

The facts

SIM-only terms
Rolling and fixed
Unlimited
Available
Handset deals
Combined bundle, 24–36 months
Prepaid
Yes
Multi-line
Discounts available

What it means for you

SIM-only. Standard shapes — rolling for anything unproven, fixed where your address and signal are settled.

Handset deals. Combined bundles, so the monthly figure does not fall when the term ends. One calculation settles every offer: deposit plus monthly times months, against the same phone bought outright plus a cheap SIM.

Prepaid. Available directly, though VOXI and Lebara on the same masts usually price it better for regular use.

Worth knowing about the budget brands: VOXI leaves selected social and video apps out of the allowance, which can hugely increase usable data if those are what you actually use. Lebara bundles generous international minutes, and its introductory rates commonly step up after an initial period.

Possible

What it means for you

  1. Open the official app — never a link someone sent you.
  2. Request the eSIM and follow the on-screen activation.
  3. Keep your number with the ordinary free switching code; digital and plastic are treated identically.
  4. For travel, add a cheap local data eSIM and leave your UK line for calls.
Watch thisNobody in UK mobile charges for issuing, transferring or reissuing an eSIM. If someone asks for money, that is the fraud. Forward the message to 7726, free.

The facts

Bundling
Household discounts

No

What it means for you

Fixed-line broadband over Openreach — decided by the line to your property, not by your nearest mast. Check availability separately from mobile coverage; the two answers are unrelated.

Bundle discounts are real. Price the household as a whole, but pick the mobile network on coverage first.

Using it abroad

The facts

Roaming
Varies by plan generation
Reliable source
Your app’s roaming screen
Two customers, same network
Can be on different rules
Ceiling
Applies wherever you go
At sea
Outside all protection

What it means for you

Roaming here varies by plan generation more than by anything else, which means two people on the same network can be on completely different rules depending on when they signed. Nothing on a marketing page will tell you which applies to you — the roaming screen in your app is the only version that counts.

  1. Read your roaming screen before you book, and write the ceiling down as a number.
  2. Check the spend cap is on.
  3. Turn off automatic backups and app updates over mobile data.
  4. Past a few days away, buy a local data eSIM and keep the UK line for calls.
Watch thisFerries, cruise ships and some aircraft bill through satellite systems that sit outside roaming and outside your spend cap. Switch mobile data off before you board.
7

Data limits and ‘unlimited’

The facts

Unlimited at home
Genuinely unmetered
Tethering
Capped on some plan generations
Very heavy users
Briefly queued at busy masts
Abroad
Ceiling, then per-GB
Typical over-buying
Around double

What it means for you

On the phone, at home, unlimited means unlimited on all four mast owners. Three published conditions bend it, and every one is readable before you sign.

ConditionWhat it actually does
Tethering capLimits sharing data with a laptop on some plan generations
Traffic managementQueues extreme outliers at saturated masts; normal heavy use never notices
Fair use abroadEnds the unlimited part at a published figure

Before buying any allowance, read three months of real usage in your current app. People routinely buy about twice what they use. Two free changes usually remove the need for a bigger tier: drop streaming quality one notch, and push backups and updates onto home Wi-Fi.

Genuine offers appear

What it means for you

A single app covering allowances, billing, spend caps, add-ons, roaming settings and eSIM requests, with a written support route that leaves a record.

  1. Install it on day one and set the spend cap while you are in there.
  2. Give the account a password you use nowhere else.
  3. Switch on every extra protection offered.
  4. Only ever install from the official app store.
Watch thisReal offers exist inside the app. If a caller’s deal is not there, the call is not real — regardless of caller ID or what they seem to know. No genuine employee of any network ever needs you to read out a one-time code.

Verdict

Works well for

  • Households whose own postcode tests well on this estate
  • People calling abroad regularly, via Lebara
  • Heavy social media and video users, via VOXI
  • Anyone who will re-check coverage each year
  • People who want a big-four network with budget options on the same masts

Works badly for

  • Anyone assuming a result from another network applies
  • People who dislike checking their own roaming terms
  • Anyone who will not diary a contract end date
  • People wanting settled, unchanging coverage right now
  • Prepaid users, who will usually do better on VOXI or Lebara

In one line: a solid national network in the middle of the biggest change in its history — worth testing on your own postcode, and worth testing again next year.
